How I Boost Productivity and Save Space in My Home Office

A productive work environment is vital for success in any profession, and it's no secret that the right home office items can make all the difference. I searched and searched for the perfect office items that would fit my needs for running a home business. Hopefully, these items will benefit you too!

I am on the computer for a few hours per day, and creating a space that allowed motion and productivity was important.

My husband and I share office space, so it was also important that we could find something that didn’t take over the room or disrupt him when he was in meetings.

Check out these six office items, that have allowed me to be productive and active while saving space.

Cauldryn Coffee Cup

My day doesn't truly begin until I have had my first cup of coffee. This cup is so handy. When I am not writing, I am getting my kids up and moving for school. So this mug has been a game changer for hectic mornings. After the kids are off to school, the coffee is usually cold. With the Cauldryn mug, I will just pop it on the office docking station and it will be hot again in a few minutes. HUGE win for a busy mom.

Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse

I type all the time. I love my Mac, but I have a hard time walking and typing on that tiny keyboard. I found this cute Bluetooth keyboard and mouse on Amazon and never looked back. This keyboard has given me much more comfort for the days I type for hours.

Additional Screen

I loved adding an additional screen to my workspace. We purchased a Dell (the Apple screens were a little too pricy for us right now.) We grabbed a USB Docking Station and connected the mouse and keyboard as well as the additional screen together. It has worked out so well and freed up space on my primary screen, making it easier to stay focused on one task at a time.

Planner

I feel so much more productive when I am using a planner to start the day. Keeping track of appointments, deadlines, and tasks has allowed me to ensure that I am staying on top of everything I need to accomplish with my family and work life each day.

Adjustable Standing Desk with Drawer

Sitting for long periods was making me feel like I wasn’t getting enough done. My back was hurting and honestly, there were days I would sit back and look at my phone or grab snacks while I worked. Switching to the height-changing desk has forced me to at least stand while I am typing and has helped tremendously with circulation, and back pain, and helped me stay focused. Plus, it's a space-saving solution that doesn't take up additional floor space.

Under Desk Treadmill

I love my desk treadmill. I feel so much better when I get a workout in, sometimes that just doesn’t happen. So having this desk allows me to move my body while I get work done. Each day I get about an hour of walking time on the treadmill. Not only does it provide health benefits, but it has increased my productivity and creativity by getting my blood flowing and reducing stress.

Printer

Having a printer is one thing I have always had, but I recently purchased the Epson Eco Tank. It is a great little printer. It is cartridge-free, so I just add the ink and don’t have to worry about replacing the cartridge. I feel like this has lasted a lot longer than the cartridges have.

Storage Bins

I use these simple storage bins for my paperwork and random office supplies. They are cheap and don’t take up much space. I use these to hold my printer, they are big enough and strong enough to handle the printer.

Creating a productive work environment doesn't have to be complicated. By investing in a few essential office items, I have boosted productivity, saved space, and even improved my health. Each of these items has made a significant difference in my daily work routine.

So don't be afraid to personalize your workspace and invest in the items that will help you work smarter, not harder.
