Have you been looking for a way to make your children feel loved for Valentine’s Day? The Valentine Mailbox is a fun and simple way to make your children feel extra loved this Valentine’s Day!

The Valentine's Mailbox is a simple, fun thing we do in our family to show love to each other all of February.

This is a tradition that you can do every single year with your children, and it will only cost you one trip to the dollar store.

Here is what you do:

So many options for mailboxes at dollar tree this year!

Go to the Dollar Store or Walmart, and grab a mailbox in the seasonal section in January or early February.

Allow each member of your family to choose a mailbox of their own to take home. (Bonus if you get stickers to decorate it and personalize them.)

When you get home, show your children their little mailbox and allow them to decorate and customize them.

When everyone is happy with their mailbox, place it in an area of the house that everyone can see.

Starting on February 1st, add a little note to your children’s mailbox, and lift up the flag when they are not around.

When the flag is up, they received a note!

When they see that their flag has been raised, they know that they have received a note! This is so exciting for kids and gives them something to look forward to.

They will pull out their note and read what you said about them. I usually keep it simple saying things like “You are so funny, I love how much you make me laugh.” or “Thank you for being such a great brother.'“

The notes that are left are simple, yet personalized to each child.

In the past, I have drawn little pictures for my kids that are too young to read, such as a heart or a star.

It does not have to be a full letter to make this a special event. Just writing them a note and taking the extra time for them makes them feel special.

Over the years, my children have gotten involved in writing notes too. They will sneak a picture or drawing into one another’s mailbox, giggling when their sibling spots it.

Watching them show love and gratitude for one another at this time of year has been such a fun experience.

Mailboxes with examples of simple notes that I have given them.

Watching my kids jump with excitement and giggle when they see that their flag is awesome. It is a simple tradition that has created a huge impact on my children. They look forward to pulling out their mailboxes and getting notes every year.

Did you try this fun tradition? Leave a picture in the comments! We would love to see it!
